Dazzle, Delight and Devotion: A Chicago Wedding to Remember
For couple Matt Knutson and Brittany Finlayson, the lead-up to their dream wedding on August 1, 2021, began on the League dating app.
Though they lived in different states, they found each other after Brittany got tired of the Milwaukee men she was meeting. After refining her search results to get in touch with guys from Chicago, she and Matt met online. From there, a rapid flurry of texting began.
Who can be satisfied with texts, though? Matt sensed he’d found a gem, so he rented a car to see Brittany in person. They went out on their first official date and, as the old saying goes, the sparks flew.
Brittany Moves to Chicago and Wedding Planning Begins
Matt and Brittany continued dating from afar for a while. Then, Brittany landed a job in the Windy City and moved in with Matt. It wasn’t long before they got engaged.
Like most couples, they had lots of conversations about what they wanted their wedding day to look like. Some came to fruition, and you can see them in their Shutter & Sound Chicago wedding video.
As Matt explains, the global health concerns of 2020 and 2021 tossed a bit of a wrench into their original concepts for the wedding day. “We started with all of these grandiose ideas for surprises,” he says. But over time, all the big stuff became unimportant. In the end, what mattered most to the couple was being able to get married in a beautiful Chicago wedding venue in front of all the family and friends they hadn’t seen in a while.
Creating a Unique Chicago Wedding and Capturing It for Life
Ultimately, Matt and Brittany settled on a classy wedding theme. The bridal party would wear black and white, echoing overtones of elegance and glamour.
For a venue, the couple settled on the stunning Ovation in Chicago and peppered it with lots of flowers. Ovation is a private event venue with a loft space and tons of atmosphere. It’s incredibly popular due to its flexible layout and attractive location.
As for the vibe, Matt and Brittany opted for a combination of refinement and fun. Music was essential. Before the pandemic, they loved to head out to concerts. So why not bring the concert to them on their wedding day with lots of dancing?
To capture the feel of this shared, life-changing moment, they hired Shutter & Sound as their Chicago wedding videographer of choice. They wanted to keep things candid with all the sights, sounds and emotions of the big day.
Togetherness, Matt and Brittany Style
Now that Matt and Brittany have tied the knot, they look forward to the decades ahead. No doubt they’ll continue traveling, trying new restaurants, enjoying concerts — and looking back on their wedding video from their Chicago wedding at Ovation.
