HEAR FROM OUR COUPLES

"

Our wedding film from Christian, Chris, & the Shutter & Sound team is such a masterpiece! The cinematography is absolutely stunning, the music is so well coordinated, and the venue & decor are beautifully captured. They wove together every funny, intimate, and meaningful moment with us and our family & friends. It was so much fun to relive the day, especially with the full-length ceremony and toasts footage – we laughed (& cried) all over again. Shutter & Sound captured our day so beautifully and brought our wedding “vision” & our love story to life on camera. Not only that, but they were organized and easy to work with throughout the process – and so fun on our actual wedding day!

Popular Wedding Videography Spots in San Francisco

You couldn’t ask for a more artistic backdrop than the City by the Bay. San Francisco is known for its iconic architecture, beautiful natural scenery and bustling urban sprawl, all of which make for a picturesque wedding shoot. The Shutter and Sound videographers have filmed weddings all over the city, making us experts on all the most picturesque videography and photography spots.
Here are some of our favorite wedding videography locations in San Francisco:

  • Palace of Fine Arts — wedding location, MARINA · 1915

    CHAPEL № I

    Palace of Fine Arts

This Roman- and Ancient Greek-inspired structure features a striking rotunda, an endless colonnade and a still lagoon reflecting its Beaux-Arts silhouette. The 1915 landmark was built for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition and is the most photographed wedding portrait spot in the Marina district.

  • Pier 7 — wedding location, EMBARCADERO · 1990

    CHAPEL № II

    Pier 7

You’ll experience a blend of urban charm and nautical whimsy at this beautiful pier. This waterfront along the Embarcadero features cast-iron lamp posts running down both sides, bench seating every ten feet, and the Bay Bridge across the water as the perpetual backdrop. Sunrise ceremonies only — we catch the light off the Bay at its best.

  • San Francisco City Hall — wedding location, CIVIC CENTER · 1915

    CHAPEL № III

    San Francisco City Hall

This breathtaking monument features a magnificent dome chiseled with impressive detail, elegant lighting, and a gilded lantern taller than the US Capitol's. Built in 1915 in the Beaux-Arts style, the Rotunda handles intimate civic ceremonies; the Mayor's Balcony handles 100; the North Gallery handles 200.

    CHAPEL № IV

    Mission District

If you’re looking for an urban site that’s bumping with culture, live music and modern art, San Francisco's Mission District is the spot for you. Clarion Alley and Balmy Alley murals are the two most-shot ceremony backdrops; Valencia and 16th Street for cocktail hour. Our most-filmed neighborhood in the city.

  • Golden Gate Bridge — wedding location, MARIN HEADLANDS · 1937

    CHAPEL № V

    Golden Gate Bridge

The 1937 International-Orange suspension bridge — the single most photographed wedding-portrait spot in America. We shoot from Battery Spencer in the Marin Headlands (north side) for the full skyline-through-the-tower composition, from Fort Point for the underside-arch drama, or from Baker Beach for the dune-and-bridge frame. Sunrise and sunset both work; dawn is quieter.

  • Alamo Square / Painted Ladies — wedding location, ALAMO SQUARE · 1892

    CHAPEL № VI

    Alamo Square / Painted Ladies

The seven Victorian 'Painted Ladies' on Steiner Street — 1892 Queen-Annes restored to their full polychrome glory — lined up in a row with the downtown skyline silhouetted behind. The sloping Alamo Square lawn handles outdoor ceremonies of 60 with a permit; portraits on the Steiner sidewalk are the single most recognisable SF-wedding-video composition.

Beyond these six, we shoot regularly in the Presidio, at the Legion of Honor, on Twin Peaks, at Lands End, and a handful of private estates we keep quiet about by request.

Did we mention we also serve Napa, Sonoma, and the East Bay?

X · HONEST ANSWERS

The six questions we answer every week.

Before you write, here are the things couples usually want to know — asked plainly, answered plainly.

  1. 01.Do you actually film in San Francisco, or do you outsource?

    THE ANSWER

We film every San Francisco wedding ourselves. George and Stephen are both based here and have shot at every venue on this page at least once. We don’t outsource. Ever.

  2. 02.Can you film at City Hall / the Palace of Fine Arts / the Golden Gate?

    THE ANSWER

Yes — we have working relationships with all three and know each venue’s rules around fixed cameras, lighting, drone permits (the bridge requires GGNRA clearance), and timing. We’ll handle the venue’s production manager so you don’t have to.

  3. 03.How quickly can I expect my San Francisco wedding film?

    THE ANSWER

Eight weeks for The Short, ten for The Feature, six for The Preview. Holiday weeks add a week. We’ll give you a date the day we sign and we’ll hit it.

George

I grew up in the SF Bay Area and have always loved filmmaking since a young age, eventually studying it in college then applying my skills in the real world as a wedding videographer. When not filming, I enjoy walking my dog Toby at the many different parks in San Francisco and enjoy sports, especially soccer!
