Shutter and Sound is a tight-knit team of wedding filmmakers serving weddings in and around San Diego. Learn more about all of our videography packages and add-ons.
A small Southern-California atelier that keeps a short list of San Diego commissions each spring. Shot at sunset on the Sunset Cliffs, by candlelight under the Hotel del's Victorian turrets, and at golden hour in Balboa Park's Casa del Prado arcade. Hand-cut, scored to a quiet string quartet, delivered in about eight weeks.

Balboa Park
This breathtaking 1,200-acre park is packed with beautiful flora, gardens and paths, and it even contains museums, theatres and restaurants. The 1915 Spanish-Colonial-Revival California Tower and the Casa del Prado arcade are the most-shot ceremony spots; the Lily Pond catches sunset perfectly.

Belmont Park
If you and your intended have a fun and goofy relationship, Belmont Park is your perfect location. This amusement park is jam-packed with vibrant rides, attractions and games, and the iconic 1925 Giant Dipper wooden roller coaster is one of only a handful of original wooden coasters still operating in the US. Set right on the Mission Beach boardwalk.

Liberty Station
This waterfront location has plenty of picturesque scenery that will make a perfect backdrop for your wedding shoot. Originally built in 1923 as the San Diego Naval Training Center, the Spanish-Mission-Revival officers quarters are now available as wedding venues, with arched colonnaded walkways and a wide grass promenade overlooking the bay.

Sunset Cliffs Natural Park
You’ll be amazed by magnificent cliffs, gorgeous sunsets and the beautiful blue waves of the Pacific Ocean at this venue. Sixty-eight acres of dramatic sandstone sea-cliffs in Point Loma. Sunset ceremonies only — the magic-hour Pacific light here is what we live for. Bring our own arches, taper candles, and aerial drone clearances.

CHAPEL № V
Hotel del Coronado
The 1888 Victorian Queen-Anne grande dame of the Coronado strand — distinctive red conical turret-roofs, white wooden facade, grand wrap-around veranda, and the iconic Coronado Beach right outside. The Crown Room downstairs holds 320; the Windsor Lawn handles outdoor ceremonies; Some Like It Hot was filmed here in '59 and the Wright Brothers stayed in 1909.

La Jolla Cove
A small protected sandstone-cliff cove between the Children's Pool seawall and the Scripps Park lawn — the most cinematic ocean ceremony spot in San Diego County. The Cuvier Park clifftop above the cove handles ceremonies of 100 with permits; the cove itself catches the sea-lion colony as a quiet documentary backdrop on the iPhone footage. Sunset ceremonies only.

01.Do you actually film in San Diego, or do you outsource?
THE ANSWER
We film every San Diego wedding ourselves. Michael is based in North Park and has shot at every venue on this page at least once. We don’t outsource. Ever.
02.Can you film at the Hotel del / Sunset Cliffs / Balboa Park?
THE ANSWER
Yes — we have working relationships with all three and know each venue’s rules around fixed cameras, lighting, drone permits (Sunset Cliffs requires San Diego Parks), and timing. We’ll handle the venue’s production manager so you don’t have to.
03.How quickly can I expect my San Diego wedding film?
THE ANSWER
Eight weeks for The Short, ten for The Feature, six for The Preview. Holiday weeks add a week. We’ll give you a date the day we sign and we’ll hit it.

Michael has been creating videos for the last 15 years. He’s worked on projects ranging from short films, to advertisements, music videos, feature films and documentaries and entered into the wedding industry in 2016. When he’s not filming or editing he enjoys relaxing at the beach, hiking, training in mixed martial arts, skateboarding, playing story driven video games or watching shows like Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Mr. Robot, or Avatar the last Airbender.
